Highlight of the Week

StepForth Dislikes Fluff

Hello fine readers. This week's feature article is unfortunately not going to happen. My docket and those of my staff are just too loaded right now. Personally I am in the middle of an invigorating competitor analysis. As a result, none of us have the time to put in the effort required to create a worthwhile article. I suppose I could have thrown something together for you quickly but I respect your time and intellect too much for that; there is nothing worse than reading fluff! So until next week please continue to stay tuned to the SEO Blog which is sure to get some more attention in lieu of our vacant weekly feature.

Thanks for your continued interest in the StepForth Weekly and I hope you have a lucrative week!

Yours,

Ross Dunn
CEO StepForth Placement Inc.

The Major Players

Google Acquires JotSpot

Yesterday JotSpot announced on their blog their acquisition by Google.

As a result of the purchase JotSpot has temporarily closed off new customer registrations while it is transferred over to Google's software architecture. If you are an existing user, rest assured you will continue to have uninterrupted access to your account.

JotSpot, a Wiki editor, with 30,000 paying customers and 300,000 free users, brings to the table spreadsheet, calendar, and photo gallery modules. While they are unable to disclose plans for the future, I am sure the new addition will see a future with many further advances within Google Docs, driving Google closer to becoming a top Microsoft Office competitor.

Ask Teams up with Lycos

According to Reuters , Ask has reached an agreement with Lycos to supply search and sponsored listings. Lycos is the "fifth most popular US Web Portal".

The deal will have Ask provide web, image, and zoom search for the Lycos network. Asks' pay per click ads will also start appearing in Lycos as part of the deal.

Loose 41 Pounds in 90 Days with "Warbiking"

Ever tried to loose weight and had no success doing so? Have you tried a variety of diets and had nothing but frustration? A solution to this problem might be here for you - especially for those who are chained to the computer or the Xbox. According to joystiq.com a fellow named "Greg" has an exercise and diet regiment that includes a great deal of stationary biking. Typically this is not an unusual part of any exercise routine but Greg hung a 46-inch Samsung LCD in front of his bike, strapped on a keyboard, and a side table with a mouse. During his workout he plays World of Warcraft on his XPS Gen 2 laptop computer.

The time on his Schwinn 213 Recumbent Bike playing Warcraft is the "cornerstone" to his physical exercise routine and to date Greg has lost 41 pounds in 90 days. "I really think the Warbiking had a LOT to do with how well I did, and how much I lost. I have done over *100* hours of cardio in three months" Greg says, and he goes on to state that "There is NO WAY I could have done that without Warcraft... it's ability to suck me in and make me ignore what I'm physically doing is amazing..."
